Interactions between the Arts and Sciences

ARTS@CERN

Arts @ CERN is a pioneer in bringing artists and scientists together to foster exchanges between art and science, and to support artistic innovation and openness to research.

The arts program at the world’s largest particle physics laboratory was founded in 2011 to explore notions of creativity, human ingenuity and curiosity. Today, through its programs, artists from all over the world are invited to spend time at CERN and work alongside particle physicists and engineers.

By positioning artists and scientists in a broader scientific context, CERN’s programs encourage new approaches to research, experimentation and artistic production. The aim is to ask how art and culture can shape new visions of an extremely specialized field, and what common ground can be shared between art and science.
