A specific healthcare system
As a Swiss resident subject to the KVG/LAMal, you are free to choose your basic insurance from a wide range of health insurers, insurance models and deductibles. The catalogue of benefits will always be the same, as defined by law, but you will be able to change your insurer, insurance model and deductible each year.
The choice of supplementary insurance is more complex. Benefits vary from insurer to insurer, and the medical questionnaire on entry reduces the possibility of changing insurer if you have a medical history. Offering a group contract with easier access to supplementary insurance becomes a tempting option for employers looking to attract new talents.
INFINITY: supplementary international insurance for Swiss residents, cross-border commuters and their family members
UNIQA has created INFINITY for employees subject to the KVG/LAMal, whether they live in Switzerland or abroad. This coverage includes a wide range of benefits in addition to basic insurance, such as access to private clinics worldwide, dental and optical care, and alternative medicine consultations. It also offers optional 24/7 travel assistance, covering cancellations, lost luggage and flight delays.
It is possible to sign up without a medical questionnaire under certain conditions. Contact us to find out more.
Finally, when a beneficiary leaves a UNIQA group contract but remains subject to the KVG/LAMal, he or she can retain coverage on an individual basis, without medical questionnaire, coverage restriction or age limit. Coverage must simply be continuous, i.e. without a break between leaving the group contract and joining INFINITY individual.
